Seti: «Intelligent machines” can live in a universe!
Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence program, known as Seti, still focused on the relationship with the biological creatures, originating from the Earth-like planets. However, the leading astronomer of the program, Dr. Seth Shostak has suggested that the probability of observing the universe alien artificial intelligence is much higher than the probability of getting a signal from the biological life forms.
Involved in the Seti scientists have long been put forward various theories about the different ways of life with a completely different matter. It is assumed that aliens can not only look different, but also at a biological level to be quite different than the members of the human civilization. Nevertheless, the basic assumption on which relies Seti, is that the aliens in the sense understood by the people living organisms.
The program is looking for life forms that correspond to at least some rules of biochemistry, producing their own kind, lived for some time, and most importantly – have evolved. In an article in Acta Astronautica Dr. Seth Shostak is the evolution draws the most attention. Biological organisms must be very time consuming, so they were able to go beyond their own planet. However, technology is advancing much faster than that in the end, as suggested by Shostak, obscure creatures created it.
According to Shostak, just look at the earth’s scale of technology development. How many centuries it took for you to invent the radio, but we did not have time to look around, as has been aired, and we had a chance to find an extraterrestrial civilization. However, we invented the radio, they could invent thinking machines. We may be able to do so in this century. Learn more about the best encryption software.
Perhaps the universe has already biological reason to invent a “successor”. “Over the past 50 years, for the period of the program, the scientists taking part in it, realized that the path of earthly technology in itself indicates how to develop extraterrestrial civilizations, if they are” – said one of the oldest participants in the program John Elliott of Leeds Metropolitan University. According to him, Dr. Shostak expresses the view that in light of what is happening can not be considered unusual. According to scientists, is changing and evolving very purpose of their research. They recognize that the interpretation of signals from extraterrestrial intelligent machines can be more difficult than working with the possible messages of biological creatures. The idea of providing new vectors of the project. Under assumptions of Dr. Shostak, an artificial intelligence should migrate in search of energy resources, as in his opinion, this is the only thing that may be of interest for cars. So he put forward a proposal to focus the team on Seti young stars and the central regions of galaxies.
