Large-scale warming and the growth of technological progress have made extraction of underground resources in the Arctic more accessible. And given the rise in such minerals as oil, the development of prospective oil fields, located on the Arctic Ocean, is becoming more real.
Most of the oil corporations have already staked out places that are smaller and get accustomed to the deeper regions. At some sites have already begun test drilling. Scientists are trying to develop alternative solutions to oil in the Arctic, because oil production in the harsh conditions in the Arctic, where serious danger, as the icebergs and pack ice, can lead to enormous environmental catastrophe. Norwegian professor Ove Gudmestad (University of Stavagere), a specialist in maritime technology, put forward a proposal to make its way through the tunnels oil fields are located horizontally, rather than the usual way (via vertical wells).
